The Whale trivet is a kiln fired image of the wellknown native carver Henry Robertson's design. The trivet measures
6" and has a cork back and hanger.
The Whale is ruler of the Underwater and lives with supernatural beings there. It is said that he is not fond
of Thunderbirds.
Henry Robertson
"Though almost 67, Henry Robertson still bears a small decades-old scar on the palm of his hand, a legacy of the time a residential school supervisor bent on putting an end to his native carving hobby drove a pencil into it.
It didn't work - Robertson never stopped. Today, instead of being punished for his artistry, he's celebrated for it."
The Vancouver Courier. May 13, 2002.
As a member of the Kenano Kitlope and Haisla band, Henry's works have been and continue to be, displayed all over the world.
The Whale trivet makes a lovely gift too.
